Introduction

DotsS

The Original LivVerse, or what the creators coined just "Classic", is a storyline created in the foundation of the video game: Mass Effect. It takes place within the Milky Way galaxy, and most stories occur on the Citadel. A few things are different, like Dark Star is now officially the Last Resort, Purgatory is now Guilty Pleasures, Tiberius Towers is now Creed Towers, and Afterlife on Omega is now the Devil's Respite.

As of now, the Originals storyline consists of some of its creators' very first characters and a host of others tied directly or indirectly to them. The titular characters (or characters who are the main focus) are Carmen and his wife Olivia Creed, both originally conceptualized characters that are interweaved throughout the canon story of Mass Effect. The Originals tries it's best not to stray from the rules of the game Mass Effect, and stories here usually reflect this, but it doesn't always happen.

The Setup

Setting: Post Mass Effect 3 Custom Ending.

Five years.

So much can change in the expanse of five years.

This is my life based on the journey of how I went from being a small time space pirate to a wife and mother of many, club owner, and the kingpin of Citadel Space.

My name is Olivia Creed, known to those close to me as either Liv or Livvy. I was once known as just Captain Marcellus; a notorious space pirate that’s not just one person, but a series of individuals who pass the name and reputation to a chosen successor once they are wealthy enough to retire. I was a force second to Aria herself and once wife to the most charismatic man the galaxy had ever seen.

Commander John Shepard.

It is post 2191 and as I look at my eldest daughter Katie Birchall, I can’t help but remember the times I had on the Normandy. From the time I first set foot onto the CIC upon recruitment during the Reaper War to the time I walked out of the airlock onto the spoiled soil of Earth for the last time, it had been a ride of epic proportions.

I’d met that notorious crew of his, from Garrus, to Wrex, to Liara and Tali. I also met some others, those who I classify as family to this day; especially my brother and sister, Alistair Creed and Jamie Brooke respectively.

During the War, we became a family and when the time came; we tried our best when we stormed Earth that final time, viciously fighting back against the Reapers with all of our might and in such great numbers. We had the Turians. We had the Krogan. We had the Geth and the Quarians. We had every race in the galaxy; a massive galactic armada on the ground and in space.

The plan was set: storm Earth and attempt to destroy them once and for all. But because of Liara’s nosiness and good gumshoeing and Javik’s input and knowledge about a certain locket of mine, we found a better solution. A better way to minimize the casualties. A way to rid us of the devastating cycle of extinction once and for all.

Hidden deep within Prothean lore was a tale that told of three chosen avatars that embodied the very essence of what the Leviathans saw as perfection. Power. Wisdom. Courage. If brought together and to the Crucible, their power alone would power the Crucible and destroy the Reapers once and for all. Javik explained to us that because of Sentinel (Sovereign’s nemesis), Alistair had been chosen as Power. The Leviathans, watching from their abyss, had chosen Shepard for his unyielding courage. As for me, I was chosen by Sovereign for my wisdom.

We were the catalysts. We were the ones to bring about the Reaper’s destruction. We were the ones who could save the galaxy.

Our outside family had come to aid us in the siege; Norah (her and Ali’s honeymoon had to be cut short for obvious reasons), Alex, Maya, Carmen, Anderson, Ranger, and Quinn picked up her shotgun for the first time in years. Hell, even mellow and sweet Jamie was there with her war face on, providing support with Steve wherever they possibly could.

The Reapers had decimated most of the planet and as Shepard led us into the most epic battle that galaxy had ever seen, we stood united.

But it still wasn’t enough.

There were casualties. Plenty of them. Not that we didn’t expect them because we all did. But the casualty that struck us all in the heartstrings was the Commander, my husband, our Shepard. He’d died in my arms before Alistair and I could save him and had it not been for Alistair and Hackett, I would have been right there with him.

However, we’d said our goodbyes and the three of us hit that beam without a doubt in our mind. We had resigned to our fates soon before the charge and I planned to die alongside my husband and my brother, as it should have been. And as everyone cheered on Earth when the Reaper forces fell to their demise in destruction, we all mourned in our own ways.

Sadly, we had to carry Shepard’s body back to the shuttle when we were rescued and as I lay dying next to what was left of my husband; my life felt like it was complete.

However, I didn’t die. I lived on to tell this tale.

It’s now five years later and as I stand back and think upon that moment and the lives we saved, I realize that it I’d been the selfish one and that it had been for the best. As for the children of the galaxy, Sam and Katie in particular, they went off to live their own lives as a married couple and establish their own world, along with their friends and others.

But back here in my universe, I know that the peace we bled for won’t last for long.

There will always be something lurking in the shadows as war is inevitable.

I am the Pirate Queen, and welcome to my world.

Doctor Shale is the The Creed Family doctor and tritagonist of the Originals. When Olivia had the vision of Guilty Pleasures Shale invested, and now maintains the more routine day to day operations, considering it a form of retirement.
